Background & the Client Challenge

The client was a family-run manufacturing business.

A significant level of investment was required to take the business forward and, to support this investment, margin needed to be improved.

The leadership of the business recognised that business operations and processes needed to be leaner and more efficient. They understood there was a need to bring in a culture of continuous improvement.

They also recognised that they needed their people on board in order to achieve this and with Employee Engagement not where it needed to be, this needed to be addressed in order to ensure the wider plan had the best possible chance of success.

The founders engaged 3SIXTY to help plan and implement what needed to be done.

What We Did

The first thing we did was conduct a detailed operational review of the manufacturing elements of the business in order to identify the root causes of the margin erosion.

It was vital we brought the wider team on this journey so a structured communications plan was developed and rolled-out to help with employee buy-in. The input of the employees was critical to the success of this project so a lot of focus was put on best to achieve this.

With this in mind, we implemented a mentoring programme to support Management in terms of communication capabilities.

We designed and implemented a fit-for-purpose management structure across all 3 locations focussed on aligning each location in terms of common goals, vision and purpose.

We implemented significant process changes such that a robust business case was developed for the capital required to fund the future investment the business needed.

Over time, our involvement moved from hands-on operational delivery to a more strategic guiding role.

Speaking about their experience of working with 3SIXTY, the General Manager of the client said “with 3SIXTY’s support, we’ve been able to rebuild the business into an Irish success story. Our people are key to that success, and we’ve now got an organisation that is focused on the right things, that is set up to manage the pressure, and pre-empt any bottlenecks that might occur. We’ve just celebrated our best year ever, and that’s all down to the support from 3SIXTY”
